The USS Titan (NCC-98100) was a 25th century Federation starship, a tier 6-rated Titan-class science destroyer and prototype of its class, in Starfleet service in the 2410s decade. (STO website: House Shattered: It's the Titan!)

Service history and disposition[]

Namesakes[]

USS Titan

The 24th century USS Titan.

Starfleet named this vessel after the 24th century Luna-class reconnaissance science vessel USS Titan (NCC-80102) made famous under the command of Captain William T. Riker. (STO website: House Shattered: It's the Titan!)

The Titan, like all other Luna-class starships launched in 2370s and 2380s decades, were named after moons in the Sol star system. Titan was a moon of Saturn (Sol VI). (TTN novel: Taking Wing)

In 2381, the observation lounge aboard Riker's Titan included replicas of previous spacecraft, including a Titan V rocket, a ship named Titan and the 23rd century Loknar-class frigate USS Titan (NCC-2752). (LD episode: "Kayshon, His Eyes Open")

The NCC registry number was shared with another science vessel/destroyer, the Comet-class USS Comet (NCC-98100)}. (STO website: House Shattered: It's the Titan!)

Titan docking port status in 2411.

In 2411, soon after the shattering of the Klingon Empire, the Titan was one of several ships listed on a docking chart at Earth Spacedock. (STO - House Shattered mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Inspired by the intervention of Riker's Titan at the Battle of Kalla against the Pakled in 2380[3], the modern Titan was equipped with a console that enabled the ship to fire an opening salvo from its dorsal superstructure. This innovation became a standard feature of Titan-class destroyers. (STO website: House Shattered: It's the Titan!)

From that year onward, the Titan represented its class on Starfleet Shipyards Operations interfaces in Khitomer Alliance shipyard facilities across the galaxy. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Alliance flag officers, deployed Titan for missions around Milky Way's four quadrants as part of the four-quadrant strategy. (STO - New Dawn mission: "Admiralty System")
