The USS Trieste (NCC-37124) was a Federation starship, a Merced-class light escort in Starfleet service in the 24th century. (ST reference: The Star Trek Encyclopedia; Last Unicorn RPG module: The Price of Freedom)

Service history[]

Following her graduation from Starfleet Academy in 2357, Ensign Lyrinda Halk served with distinction aboard the Trieste. (TNG - Annual comic: "Thin Ice")

Before his assignment to the USS Enterprise-D, Lieutenant Commander Data was assigned to the Trieste in 2360. During his tour of duty, the Trieste passed through an unstable wormhole. (TNG episode: "Clues"; TNG - The Lost Era novel: The Buried Age)

When the Enterprise-D was hijacked from Starbase 74 in 2364, it was suggested that the Trieste would be able to intercept the Enterprise, but Data deemed the vessel to be too small and too slow to render assistance. (TNG episode: "11001001")

In 2368, the Trieste was assigned to a task force of starships that were assigned to blockade the Klingon-Romulan border during the Klingon Civil War. (TNG episode: "Redemption, Part II")

The Trieste crew fought in the Dominion War. (DS9 novel: The Long Mirage)

The Trieste was the first starship assignment for Jefferson Blackmer. Blackmer later left his posting on the Trieste for the USS Nova. (ST - Typhon Pact novel: Plagues of Night)
