The USS Triton[4] (NCC-80106) was a 24th century Federation starship, a Luna-class science vessel in Starfleet service from the 2370s decade. (TTN novel: Sword of Damocles, "Titan Fold-out")

Service history[]

Neptune, the planet orbited by Triton.

Like all Luna-class starships, the Triton was named after a moon in the Sol star system. In this instance, Triton. In turn, these were named after Human mythology from the history of the planet Earth. (TNG novel: Greater Than the Sum)

The first batch of Luna-class starships entered service in the year 2379. The USS Galatea was also named after a Neptunian moon. (TTN novel: Taking Wing, "Luna Class Concept Notes")

In the 2370s, Starfleet categorized Luna-class ships as tactical heavy cruisers. (Instagram - Star Trek Logs - Picard post: U.S.S. Titan - Starship Record)

On Frontier Day in April 2401, the Triton was one of 36 Luna-class starships participating in the parade and demonstration of fleet formation mode at Sol Station in Earth's orbit. The vengeful Borg Queen of the primary universe Borg Collective assimilated the fleet and its younger crew and began attacking Sol Station. (PIC episode: "Võx")

Admiral Picard and the USS Titan-A intervened, stopping the queen's plan and restoring Starfleet's control over its ships. (PIC episode: "The Last Generation")

First Splinter timeline[]

By the year 2380 of the First Splinter[6] timeline, Starfleet had sent its Luna-class science vessels on missions of exploration, including the Triton. (TTN novel: Sword of Damocles, "Titan Fold-out")
