The USS Valor was a 23rd century Federation starship, a Miranda-class light cruiser in Starfleet service in the 2280s decade. Its commanding officer was Captain Philip Hodges. (TOS - To Boldly Go comic: "Mortal Gods")
Service history and disposition[]
Hodges was a protégé of Rear Admiral James T. Kirk. Kirk told Phillip he envied him for what lay ahead when Hodges became captain of the Valor in the 2280s.
During the Excalbian-instigated Federation-Klingon War of 2285, the Valor suffered heavy damage in battle against a Klingon K't'inga-class battlecruiser. Stranded in the Beta Epsilon star system, the Valor issued a distress call before the ship suffered a complete structural collapse and broke up.
Captain Hodges was the only survivor, and escaped in a Class F shuttlecraft to Beta Epsilon VI. He was cared for by the Beta Epsilon VI natives and fell in love with Lylla. In violation of the Prime Directive, he shared improvements with the pre-warp civilization on the planet.
On stardate 8163.5 in 2285, the war was over. Kirk commanded the USS Enterprise during the mission to answer the Valor distress call. The crew found Hodges as a god of the primitives on Beta Epsilon VI and learned the fate of the Valor. (TOS - To Boldly Go comic: "Mortal Gods")
By the early 2370s[1], the name USS Valor was carried by a Centaur-class[2] cruiser[1]. (DS9 novel: Antimatter, STO - Klingon War mission: "Hide and Seek")
