The USS Voyager (NCC-73602) was a proposed design for a Federation starship, a variant Intrepid-class science vessel proposed for construction and use in Starfleet service in the 2370s decade. (The Official Starships Collection Issue Bonus Edition 11: "USS Voyager Sternbach Concept")
History and specifications[]
This Voyager was designed with an alternate configuration and registry number compared to USS Voyager NCC-74656. The NCC-73602 included a triangular primary hull, vaguely reminiscent of the newer, tactically oriented Prometheus-class. The secondary hull was angular. Danube-class style nacelle pylons connected this hull with a pair of long warp nacelles. Unlike the regular Voyager, this version lacked the variable warp-field geometry that allowed its pylons to pivot when entering warp.
The design featured an Aeroshuttle attached to the ventral saucer section, and was to be equipped with the revolutionary Emergency Medical Hologram. (The Official Starships Collection Issue Bonus Edition 11: "USS Voyager Sternbach Concept")
In 2410, the larger, more streamlined Pathfinder-class long range science vessel, and its USS Pathfinder prototype, were based on this unrealised Intrepid-class concept and the regular USS Voyager by the Starfleet Corps of Engineers. The Pathfinder was involved with the exploration of the Delta Quadrant as part of Operation Delta Rising. This ship's saucer was wider and rounder at the rear, and dominated by a large secondary deflector at the bow. It included the elongated nacelles attached to the downswept pylons characteristic of the NCC-73602 design. (STO website: Delta Rising: Intrepid Class Starship)
