For other uses, see Whitetree.

The USS Whitetree was a 24th century Federation starship, a Saber-class frigate in Starfleet service in the 2370s decade.

Service history and disposition[]

Whitetree was modified for service as a fleet frigate, in active service around the year 2378. (ST video game: Starfleet Command III)

No specific history or definitive final fate was established for this vessel in Starfleet Command III as its name was randomly selected for a frigate by the SFC3 game software, and is placed randomly each time the ship appears.

In 2386, the ship had been seconded to Starfleet Academy as a training vessel and the majority of its crew were cadets on their first deep space cruise. The Whitetree, under the command of Captain Minecci had been assigned to the Alpha Quadrant frontier zone and was engaged in a technological and cultural exchange with the Dinac.

Whilst assisting the Dinac with repairs to one of their exploration pinnaces, the Whitetree was pulled into a subspace rift and captured by the Solanae. The crew were imprisoned and most of the senior staff were killed. The Solanae, with the forced assistance of a tortured Whitetree crew member turned the ship's warp core into a spatial rift generator with the intention of wiping out the Dinac with a biogenic weapon and capturing the Ciari dissidents. The Whitetree was destroyed when Lieutenant Zurin Dakal of the USS Titan sacrificed himself and triggered an overload in the warp core matter/antimatter streams by removing the dilithium crystal matrix, to prevent the spatial rift from opening. The surviving crew of the Whitetree were rescued and returned to Alpha Quadrant by the Titan. (TTN novel: Sight Unseen)

The Whitetree may have been named for Admiral Luther Whitetree from TOS novel: The Final Reflection.
