The USS Yeager (NCC-1437) was a Federation starship, a Cardenas-class command dreadnought cruiser in Starfleet service in the 2250s and 2410s decades. It was the second ship of the class to bear this name and registry, replacing the USS Yeager and honoring its loss at the Battle of the Binary Stars in 2256. (STO video game: Mirror of Discovery website: "The Stats of the Discovery Operations Bundle!")

Service history[]

The second Cardenas-class Yeager entered service at some point after the destruction of its predecessor in May 2256. In the year 2259, the Yeager was one of many Starfleet ships undergoing refits at Yard 39 in the TL-9139 system in the Tellar sector when the star erupted and expelled a wave of baryons. Starfleet hastily evacuated the Federation shipyard and its ships. Due to the high amount of radiation, the system was inaccessible to anyone for 150 years.

In 2410, the local "weather" changed, diminishing the radiation to technologically manageable levels. Ensign Elyos and Lieutenant Whetu of the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards discussed this event during the launch ceremony of the USS Narendra. (STO - Age of Discovery short story: "Utopia Planetia: The Mystery of Yard 39")

The project included the recovery and refit of the USS Yeager NCC-1437. Now rated a tier 6 fleet command dreadnought cruiser, the ship re-entered service in 2410.

The recovery of hulks from Yard 39 led to the launch of new ship classes based on them. This included the USS Buran, based on the recovered Cardenas class. (STO website: Mirror of Discovery : The Command Dreadnought Cruiser Bundle!)
