The US 28th Colored Troops was a military unit in the United States Army based out of Indiana. This unit fought in the American Civil War. An ancestor of Geordi La Forge had fought in this unit on July 30, 1864 at the Battle of the Crater and carried the regimental flag. The ancestor had lost his arm in the battle.
