The Undine shipyard was a 25th century Undineorganic space station, a shipyard in service in locations across fluidic space in the 2410s decade. The Undine shipyard was capable of growing Undine planet killers. (STO - Task Force Operation mission: "Viscous Cycle")
History and specifics[]
An Undine shipyard consisted of two main structures, a central "maw" with a three-pronged jaw that remained closed to enclose the growing bioship within, and three surrounding "chimneys" that controlled the opening of the maw. Further structures could include additional chimneys and barnacle-like eggs housing Undine larva ships and larger bioships. Additional tendrils extended from the shipyards and could connect nearby facilities. (STO - Task Force Operation mission: "Viscous Cycle")
Undine shipyards were coral-like structures. (STO website: A New Accord: Season 9 Dev Blog #17)
In the year 2410, Admiral Tuvok of 8472 Counter-Command commanded a Khitomer Alliance task force of five starships invading Bubbling Bay in fluidic space. (STO - Task Force Operation mission: "Viscous Cycle")
The goal of Tuvok's Operation: Viscous Cycle was to disable the Undine shipyards producing Undine planet-killers to hamper the Undine's power to threaten planets in the Milky Way Galaxy of the primary universe. (STO website: A New Accord: Season 9 Dev Blog #17)
Bubbling Bay was a facility consisting of three Undine shipyards, Shipyard Alpha, Shipyard Beta and Shipyard Gamma. Because Bubbling Bay structures lacked defenses of their own, a fleet of Dromias-, Nicor- and Vila-class bioships provided protection. Eggs attached to the shipyards could launch Undine larva ships, although they were too weak to pose a threat to Khitomer Alliance starships. The largest bioship at Bubbling Bay was PK Gamma, a fully-grown planet killer. Operation: Viscous Cycle was a success and destroyed the bioships at Bubbling Bay, including the trio of proto-planet killers growing within the shipyards. (STO - Task Force Operation mission: "Viscous Cycle")
Later that year, Tuvok commanded USS Voyager during a counterattack on Psi Lord Eric Cooper's lair in fluidic space. Voyager and its Khitomer Alliance escort entered fluidic space through a quantum singularity rift located in the Northwest Passage of the galaxy's Delta Quadrant. Voyager found that Cooper hid in a modified dreadnought, a planet killer turned into a command bioship. Cooper's bioship was grown inside a dedicated shipyard. This structure was guarded by several Dromias-class bio-cruisers. The command bioship ultimately turned on Cooper, "repurposing" him and ending the conflict between the Undine and the galactic powers. Voyager left the Undine shipyard and returned to the Northwest Passage. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Mindscape")
