The United Federation of Planets Infonet (UFPI) was a news service within the United Federation of Planets.
History[]
On reference stardate 0/8804, the United Earth's Solarian News Agency and several other services were consolidated to form the UFPI. (FASA RPG modules: The Federation, The Romulan War)
After the destruction of the Genesis Planet, UFPI linked the events to the destruction of the USS Grissom to that of Project Genesis. They announced the intention of going to the Federation Tribunal in order to obtain the necessary leverage so that they could get someone to account for the Genesis affair. The UFPI was also publishing a number of speculative stories in regards to the matter to Federation journals. While these were mostly rumor, they helped incite the public against the ban on information about the Genesis device. (FASA RPG module: Star Trek IV Sourcebook Update)
