The University of Copernicus was an enduring institute of higher learning on Luna in the Sol system.
History and specifics[]
In the 24th century, the university maintained a superior training program for civilian technicians and pilots.
In 2323, after Starfleet Academy cadet Jean-Luc Picard failed a second entrance exam test, Counselor Trevalion asked if he had alternate career plans. He suggested the possibility of attending Copernicus University to earn a class 2 pilot's license, or to consider Bernard's System Omniversity or the universities at Alpha Centauri. Picard declined, and explained he was undeterred and resolutely would continue to apply to the Academy, never giving in to despair. Trevalion then revealed that their conversation was a psychological test, which he passed. Picard eventually won the single Academy position available from the Paris office. In the 29th century, the USS Relativity's dedication plaque noted that the timeship had been launched thanks to the efforts of the University of Copernicus, the Federation, and the Temporal Integrity Commission. (VOY episode: "Relativity")
