The University of Oxford was an institution of higher learning on Earth, the oldest such institution in Great Britain, with teaching having begun there as early as 1096.

History and specifics[]

The accent of Oxford-educated students is considered to be distinctive. Donald Archibald Williams, an employee of the Chrysalis Project in the 20th century, and Kojiro Vance, 22nd century captain of the ECS Kobayashi Maru, were both described as having Oxford accents. In the 20th century, Doctor Bertrand Carlisle earned doctorates in particle physics, quantum mechanics, and thermonuclear integration from Oxford. Carol Abramowitz and Gabriel Collins, students at nearby Cambridge University, took classes in stratigraphy at Oxford. (CoE eBook: Remembrance of Things Past, Book I)
