The University of San Francisco was a 21st century institute of higher learning located in San Francisco, California on the North American continent of the planet Earth. It was founded by Jesuits in the 19th century.

In 2024, journalist Melinda Silver spotted a university student reading Ethan Frome in Golden Gate Park who was wearing a sweatshirt from USF. Silver was in the park in order to conduct interviews with Ken Dows and Regan Dows for her podcast series Cetacean, a cold case investigation into the disappearance of Gillian Taylor.
