The following is a list of unnamed Bwujans.

Ancient times[]

High priest and test subjects[]

In 4700 BC, an unnamed high priest proposed to King Amu that they invent gill implants so that their civilization could survive approaching radioactive supernova debris by migrating deep underwater. Their technology wasn't up to the task at the time, however, and the priest supervised early experimentation with reluctant volunteers.

Bwujan and doctor[]

In 2900 BC, an unnamed doctor supervised the birth of the first Bwujan born with gills, a mutation that proved to be dominant. By the 23rd century, the vast majority of Bwujans not only breathed water naturally but had also developed telepathy for underwater communication.

Modern times[]

Guards[]

In 2266, a group of three guards riding Bwujan porpoises spotted the landing party from the starship USS Enterprise. The guards escorted them to an underwater city to meet with King Raan XIV and Queen Saya.

Baby Bwujan and caretaker[]

In 2266, a Bwujan air-breathing baby was seemingly killed on the order of water-breathing priests. The child's funeral procession was witnessed by the landing party, who were sentenced to death as air-breathing invaders. The casket and crew were deposited in an underwater cavern, but after witnesses left, an airlock drained water out of the room, providing access to air-filled caverns. It turned out that the baby was alive, however, and that the funeral was staged so that Raan XIV could save the infant and landing party from the priests. The baby was quickly picked up and cared for by an air-breathing Bwujan woman.

Senior Bwujan[]

In the caves, the landing party met a senior Bwujan man and Lojo, who together showed how the air-breathers survived underground. They also describved the apparent failure of those who attempted to climb up to the surface.

Tako's wife[]

Tako's wife was one of many air-breathers born of water-breathing parents who were saved from death at the hands of high priests and grew up underground. She eventually climbed her way to the surface and by 2266 was part of a community of 58 surface dwellers, 14 of whom were born there. At some point, she married Tako and bore him two children. In 2262 or 2263, they also adopted Doro, a baby found on the surface.

Tako's first son[]

Following the known route of the climbers, the landing party emerged on the surface and met Tako's oldest son, an air-breather with black hair who was born on the surface. His grandparents were water-breathers. The boy took them to meet his parents and Doro, an adopted baby.

Tako's second son[]

Tako's younger natural son was a water breather who lived in the ocean near his parent's shelter. Tako and his wife agreed to allow water-breathing Raan XIV and his wife Saya to adopt this child and raise him in their underwater civilization. (TOS comic: "The World Beneath the Waves")
