Upgrade (material)

Upgrade was a starship material option, an Alpha Quadrant Alliance designation for the visual appearance of a spacecraft's outer hull, i.e. a vessel's "skin". Overall, Upgrade gave a vessel are more detailed-looking hull panelling. Alliance members had distinct styles. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

The Upgrade material became available in 2409, following the introduction of tier 6 refits and retrofits for several older ship classes. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
