Good news, everybody! The Star Trek Encyclopedia is getting an update!
Yes, Mike & Denise Okuda are working on a revised encyclopedia to be published in the summer of 2016. The new edition was first announced by John Van Citters of CBS Consumer Products at the Las Vegas Star Trek convention on 9th August earlier this year. becker&mayer! will produce the book which will be split into two volumes—totalling 1056 pages—housed in a slip case (similar, I should think, to the Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library reference work).
This latest edition will include references from the final episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, seasons 4-7 of Star Trek: Voyager, all four seasons of Star Trek: Enterprise, plus Star Trek Nemesis and the reboot films Star Trek (2009) & Star Trek Into Darkness. As for the 2016 film, Mike & Denise had this to say on their Facebook page: "Unfortunately, we won't be able to get information on Star Trek Beyond in time for inclusion in the book." And when asked if Star Trek: The Animated Series would be added, the answer was: "Sorry, no." However, the book will address some of the changes made to TOS and TNG when they were remastered for their HD releases.
