The Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards was an important Starfleet starship construction and design facility based at the Utopia Planitia area on Mars in the Sol system. The shipyard spans from land-based portions all the way to geosynchronous orbit above the planet. Many important starships were constructed there, including the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D), the USS Defiant (NX-74205), and the USS Voyager (NCC-74656).

The yards were made up of a number of separate facilities, including space stations and drydocks. The main complex of the shipyards was Utopia Station One, where a large docking port allowed starships to dock. (TTN novel: Taking Wing)

When the USS Defiant was forced to fire it's warhead module in defence of Deep Space 9 in 2376 the replacement module was delivered directly from Utopia Planitia. (DS9 novel: Avatar)
