The Valdres class was a 25th century Federation starship type, a tier 6-rated command strike wing escort class derived from the 24th century Norway-class medium cruiser[1], in Starfleet and Khitomer Alliance service from the 2410s decade. Starfleet fitted the USS Valdres and its sister ships with a heavy pulsed tractor beam generator, allowing them to "grab" an opponent and smash them into another ship.
As a strike wing escort starship, the Valdres class could deploy small craft for combat. By default, the escort's hangar bay was home to Valkyrie-class fighters.
At one point, the Valdres and the Seneca-class command carrier USS Seneca performed maneuvers with their embarked combat craft near a star. (STO website: Ascension: The Agile Classics Ship Bundle!)
