Vandros IV was a planet in the Gamma Quadrant, under the Dominion's control, and one of its most outlying worlds. It was also the location of an Iconian gateway that was discovered by Dominion scientists in the 2370s.

The Iconians inhabited the planet and its surrounding area over two hundred thousand years ago. Vandros IV is also close to Hoek IV, Sampalo and the Lantar Nebula. (ST reference: Star Charts)

In 2372, the scientists attempted to restore it, but their Jem'Hadar soldiers rebelled and seized the gateway. They began to work on the gateway on Vandros themselves, stealing technology from Deep Space 9 among other places.

On their way back to Vandros, the rogue Jem'Hadar attacked and crippled Weyoun's warship. When they were rescued by Benjamin Sisko and the crew of the USS Defiant, the two crews agreed to work together and attack the ziggurat on Vandros that held the gateway. They were successful in destroying the gateway, although both crews suffered heavy losses. (DS9 episode: "To the Death", TNG novella: Gateways: "What Lay Beyond": "The Other Side")

According to records discovered by Ambassador Worf and allied military officers and civilians in 2409, the Iconians maintained level 9 surveillance of Vandros IV and nearby worlds. The records also stated that the Iconians considered the Dominion too strong to dominate without first subsuming the major powers of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. (STO mission: "Sphere of Influence")
