For the USS Enterprise-C crewmember of the same name, see Varani (Ochati).

Varani was a renowned Bajoran musician. When he was a young man, he played at the forum in Jalanda, which he would later attempt to get the Provisional Government to rebuild after the Occupation ended.

Biography[]

In 2370, Varani was on Deep Space 9 playing the tivara in Quark's. Quark had been asked by Kira Nerys to let him play, although the Ferengi was concerned his customers focused more on Varani than on spending money. Kira had talked to the government about the rebuilding of the Forum, although other projects had been given more attention.

Varani later gave Haneek, the leader of the Skrreea, a holorecording of his performance at Jalanda. Varani was of the opinion that due to Bajor's state after the Occupation the government would not grant the Skrreea permission to relocate there. (DS9 episode: "Sanctuary")

In 2371, Shakaar Edon attended a concert performed by a musician called Theron and was greatly impressed, declaring him to be just as good as Varani. (DS9 novel: Objective: Bajor)

First splinter timeline[]

In 2376, Varani played music on the Promenade during the entry ceremony for Bajor joining the United Federation of Planets. (DS9 novel: Cathedral)
