The Vas Hatham (Bird of Prey) was a large avian lifeform that was native to the planet Romulus.

History and specifics[]

These huge flying predators were so revered that they were transplanted to several of the conquered worlds within the Romulan Star Empire. The large avians were reported to live up to 100 years with some reaching such large proportions that their wingspan was as wide as 50 feet and were capable of weighing 400 pounds. (FASA RPG module: Romulan Ship Recognition Manual)

They had brown, gold, and red-colored plumage, were twice as large as an Earth condor, and could not be domesticated. Though they rarely attacked people, if hungry and angered one was capable of overpowering most humanoids. (FASA RPG module: The Romulans: Starfleet Intelligence Manual)

Legacy[]

The reputation and name of these animals served as the basis for a Romulan starship called the Vas Hatham-class warships. (FASA RPG module: Romulan Ship Recognition Manual)
