Background
In the Mirror Universe Vash is an "Archeologist For Hire" who is partnered with Jean-Luc Picard. (TNG novel: The Worst of Both Worlds)
Also a member of the terran rebellion she enlisted Picards aid in her and Noonian Soong's search for the Borg in 2371. After gaining Picard's aid she left to conduct a mission for the rebellion only to run into the Borg herself and be assimilated.
Picard later discovered her on a Borg ship and he killed her an act he decided was probably a mercy.
