Vassili Ivanovitch Chuikov (12 February 1900 - 18 March 1982) was a human military leader. He was a general in the army of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics during World War II, commanding the 62nd Army during the Battle of Stalingrad.

In 1942 Chuikov met the time-lost Pavel Chekov in a Moscow hospital and mistook him for the son of his late brother, Andrew Chuikov (or Alexander Chuikov). Chuikov conscripted Chekov into the Russian Army. (TOS novel: Home Is the Hunter)
