The Vau N'Akat Civil War was a civil war that erupted on Solum in the late 24th century on Solum.

History[]

Following first contact between the Vau N'Akat and the United Federation of Planets' Starfleet in the later half of the 24th century , Solum's society became divided between those who wanted to pursue alien relations and those who wanted to maintain the old ways by avoiding a primitive alliance. The two factions fought each other for decades while the Federation stayed neutral. The war left solum irreparbly devastated and the Vau'Nakat on the edge of extinction.

In 2436, the remaining Vau N'Akat of The Order captured the USS Protostar under Captain Chakotay that went through a wormhole in the 2380s. The Order saw the Protostar as a opportunity for revenge and a way to save their species. Thus, the Order installed their last Living construct aboard the ship and intended to send it back in time to prevent first between Solum and the Federation. (PRD episodes: "Kobayashi", "A Moral Star, Part 2", "Preludes")

However, Captain Chakotay and his XO Adreek-Hu were able to rig the Protostar to launch into the wormhole to be lost in space and time. The Order, using the last of their ships, pursued the Protostar. 100 Vau N'Akat soldiers and their Drednoks took their Rev-12 ships into the wormhole. Only two soldiers, Asencia the Vindicator and Ilthuran the Diviner survived with their drednoks. Illthuran arrived in 2363 while Asencia arrived in 2381. The Rev-13 crashed on Orisi and it's soldier perished. (PRD episodes: "Kobayashi", "A Moral Star, Part 2", "Preludes"; PRD video game: Supernova)

The Diviner searched for the Protostar on Tars Lamora using Unwanted slaves while Asencia infiltrated Starfleet posing a Trill ensign on the USS Dauntless under Vice admiral Kathryn Janeway during her search for the Protostar. The Rev-13's drednok took control of Orisi. The Diviner and his daughter Gwyn found the Protostar, but she escaped with several other slaves to join Starfleet. Eventually, the Dauntless found the ship and Asencia activated the construct. She and her drednok escaped while the Protostar crew abandoned while it's ETH, destroyed the ship thus ending the construct's corruption. (PRD episodes: "Lost and Found", "Supernova"; PRD video game: Supernova)

Following the Protostar's destruction, Gwyn traveled to Solum to prevent the Civil war from happening. (PRD episode: "Supernova")

Altered timeline[]

Asencia and her drednok was able to convince elders Borom and Kathon to believe her about Solum's destruction due to the Federation Starfleet. The elders refused believe Gwyn's claims about the Starfleet's mission of peace and exploration due to her not being born on Solum. The elders' guards attempted to capture her but failed. Gwyn was able find her father and they were able to convince the elders to have Asencia and Gwyn undergo the Va'Lu'Rah. Unfortunately, Gwyn failed due to her being phasing in and out of time. The Elders accepted Asencia as a true Vau N'Akat. However, Illthuran was able to help her and reunite with her friends from the USS Voyager-A. (PRD episodes: "Into the Breach, Part II", "Who Saves the Saviors", "Temporal Mechanics 101")

Asencia dissolved the council and became Solum's dictator. She had scientists working hard until they were able to bring Traveler Wesley Crusher and capture him. Asencia tortured him and used his knowledge to build advanced weapons. She was also able to capture a Loom and imprison it. She also had drednoks and Watchers patrolling Solum's streets, instilling fear in the populace. During this time, Illthuran and Asencia's 2384 counterpart formed The Uprising to combat Asencia's future counterpart. Illthuran was able to use the shuttle, Sacagawea, to contact Voyager-A. However, Illthuran was captured and Asencia sent the Rev-12 to destroy Voyager-A and the Protostar. However, both ships survived and the Rev-12 was destroyed. (PRD episodes: "Ascension", "Brink", "Touch of Grey")

Admiral Janeway sent the Protostar cadets under Gwyn to Solum to rescue llthuran and to scout for information Asencia's plans. With help from Asencia's 2384 counterpart, R'El was able to rescue the elders and Gwyn's father. Gwyn was able to find Crusher and free him. However, Gwyn and her fellow cadets were captured while Crusher and Illthuran were transported to Voyager-A. Ascencia had Gwyn and her fellow cadets declared as spies and sent to the Wastes. There, she fed them to the lone loom she captured. However, Admiral Janeway and her away team were able to rescue them from the Loom and Ascencia's guards. Illthuran then sent a message to his people, telling him not embrace Asencia's war. (PRD episodes: "Brink", "Touch of Grey")

Asencia, her guards and drednoks came under attack by their fellow Vau N'Akat who wished to make peace with the Federation and Starfleet. Asencia refused and continued to create wormholes to attack Federation planets and Starfleet bases. While the Voyager-A kept the Rev-12 ships from going through the wormholes, Gwyn and the rest of the Protostar crew were able to stop Asencia's attacks and were able to find the wormhole to send the Protostar back to Tars Lamora. (PRD episode: "Ouroboros")

Aftermath[]

Despite Asencia's defeat, the Loom began attack Solum, Voyager-A and the Protostar. With Voyager-A's help, Chakotay, Crusher and the Protostar crew were able to send the ship back Tars Lamora in the past, thus restoring the timeline along with Gwyn. Voyager-A then made a peaceful first contact with the Vau N'Akat , their elders and dismantled Asencia's temporal technology. (PRD episode: "Ouroboros")
