Vendikar (or Eminiar III) was a planet located somewhere in the space of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, the third planet in orbit of the Eminiar star system, at coordinates 2.15S 5.77E.
History
This vicinity was part of the NGC 321 star cluster, visible from Earth in the constellation of Cetus. The inhabitants of Vendikar are Eminians who colonized the world hundreds of years prior to the 23rd century, after leaving their civilization's homeworld of Eminiar VII.
The Vendikar settlers came into conflict with their homeworld, and fought a war with Eminiar VII for five hundred years prior to the year 2267. (TOS episode & Star Trek 2 novelization: A Taste of Armageddon)
Around the year 2271, the initial, fragile peace process begun by Ambassador Robert Fox and Captain James T. Kirk collapsed, with a round of nuclear exchanges between Vendikar and Eminiar VII virtually obliterating the entire planet by the year 2287. Alternate continuity
According to another source, in the 2280s, Vendikar was a noted center center of culture. By reference stardate 2/2306.01, the world had a population of 14.82 billion individuals, and the government had an alliance as an associate member the Federation. (FASA RPG module: The Federation)
