The Venus atmospheric balloon was a 20th century Earth probe sent to explore Venus.
History[]
In 1983, the balloon traversed Venus for several days. It carried a package of instruments to study its stratosphere and sent telemetry back to Earth. (ST reference: Spaceflight Chronology)
- The real-world mission was completed in mid-June 1985. It traveled more than 11,100 kilometers through Venus's atmosphere.
