Verdicchio was a human male who served in Starfleet in the 23rd century.
History[]
By late 2278, he served in the USS Impeller's sciences division as biochemist under Captain Daniel Merkling when it was assigned to the Belle Terre Colonial Expedition.
In early 2279, the colonists on the colony ship Yukon decided to turn back and return to Federation space. Captain James T. Kirk assigned the Impeller as an escort, but on the way back they were attacked by five Orion ships. During the battle Verdicchio was on the bridge when it was breached. Lieutenant Pavel Chekov beamed aboard to help the survivors, and dragged him Captain Merkling off bridge. After he regained consciousness, the blinded Captain Merkling put Chekov in command and sent Verdicchio, Burnell and Molyneaux down to the auxiliary bridge. Once there, they were able to hold off the Orions long enough for the USS Enterprise to arrive. (TOS - New Earth novel: Wagon Train to the Stars)
