A video tape was a type of visual recording.

In the year 2266, Doctor Njam made a video tape of his demand for one billion credits within 24 hours to prevent the N-cycle bomb from being detonated in the past. (TOS comic: "A Bomb in Time")

Later that year, Nuri Jakarz manufactured false evidence of Captain James T. Kirk meeting with Liji Bragg, the head of an illegal mining operation in the Ferrous-Asteroid Belt by combining two separate video tapes of them into one. (TOS comic: "The Trial of Captain Kirk")

In 2267, the senior staff of the USS Enterprise watched a video tape in which Dr. Lanugu instructed them in the rematerializing of a schnauzer which had been converted to a biomagnetic recording via transmutation beam. He then revealed that the same process was being used to convert the population of the planet Styra, which the Enterprise would then transport to a new star system. (TOS comic: "The Hijacked Planet")

In 2270, General Entertainment Concepts unearthed lost video tapes of television programs produced in the 21st century such as Antarctic 2077, Catastrophe, Cooking with Soy, Dolphin Detective, Luna City Blues, Klancy Koala, and Robodoc. General Entertainment planned to have them available to watch next month. (Stardate Magazine vol. 1, Issue 2: "Making Your First Million")
