Vinculum drone

A vinculum Borg drone aboard Tzen-Tarrak's cube.

In the mirror universe, a vinculum drone was a 25th century drone type, a Borg drone specialized in ground combat in Borg Kingdom service in the 2410s decade. (STO - Kings & Queens mission: "Taken By Surprise")

History and specifics[]

Vinculum regenerator

A fallen vinculum drone revived by its vinculum regenerator.

In the year 2411, the extradimensional Aetherian Concordium and the primary universe Khitomer Alliance were involved in a multiversal conflict with the Borg Kingdom from the mirror universe. The Alliance engaged in combat with mirror Borg ground and space forces, including mirror Borg drones. The Borg boarded the USS Inouye> Doctor Erin Macdonald warned a supporting Khitomer Alliance away team to disable the vinculum drone's vinculum regenerator. These vinculum drones were heavily armed with plasma weapons integrated into their body armor. Captain Harry Kim and his escorts fought drones, including vinculum drones, aboard his ship and on Tzen-Tarrak's cube. (STO - Kings & Queens mission: "Taken By Surprise")

Vinculum drones served aboard a unimatrix operated by Borg King Harry Kim in fluidic space. Like a vinculum drone, a dendritic drone could regenerate nearby fallen drones, including itself, thanks to the vinculum technology strapped to its back. Unlike the vinculum drone, which carried a single vinculum unit on its back, the dendritic drone was equipped with a pair of vincula. Someone would have to manually disable the vinculum regenerator to prevent such a fallen drone equipped with it from raising itself.

During an assault on Unimatrix 7400 by Alliance teams led by Captain Ezri Dax and accompanied by Admiral Kuumaarke and Captain Harry Kim, the dendritic drones were declared a target focus by Captain Dax, even over vinculum drones. When the Borg assimilated Dax's hazard teams, the victim designated One of Five was turned into a vinculum drone. Dax, Kim and Kuumaarke rescued the hazard teams. They used their Borg implants to sabotage the unicomplex. (STO - Kings & Queens mission: "Scorpion's Abyss")

Following the encounter with the Control Borg,[1] Admiral Kuumaarke of the Lukari Concordium programmed a holographic combat training simulation for Khitomer Alliance officers to practice fighting ground forces of the primary universe Borg Collective, mirror universe Borg Kingdom and alternate reality Control Borg. These included the vinculum drones of the Borg Kingdom. (STO - Task Force Operations mission: "Borg Battle Royale")
