Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

Volleyball is a sport activity originating with the Human civilization of the planet Earth.

History and specifics[]

Competing players stand on opposite sides of a net and hit a ball over towards the other side, with the object being to not be the side where the ball will hit the ground. The ball may not touch the net or go out of bounds measured on each teams' sides. Players are not allowed to grasp or hold the ball with their fingers after it is "served" in an initial throw, and must hit it back and forth using other parts of their body. Players also are not allowed to hit the ball twice in succession so they must alternate if one player hits the ball on an insuffucient trajectory to clear the net.
