Vondem (also known as the Orion homeworld or simply the planet Orion) was a name given to the planet that was the 23rd century homeworld of the Orion civilization in the Kelvin timeline. (TOS - Reunion comic: "Part 1")

Appendices[]

Background[]

Prior to the revelation of Alnilam and Vondem as the Orion home specific to the Kelvin timeline, previous sources have developed the planets Rigel VII and Rigel VIII as the Orion homeworld, each also named "Orion". This is not necessarily a contradiction of the 23rd century reference to Vondem at Alnilam, as the older publications depict Orion's ancient origins including abandonment of some previous and adopted homeworlds. The reference book publication Star Charts had previously named the Pi-3 Orionis system as the apparently unrelated "Orion system", but later 24th century novel sources establish this ystems Orion Prime is the familiar home of the Orion civilization in the primary universe. It is not clear if some occurrence of the Kelvin timeline changed this fact or if, in the prime version of reality that Vondem is one of the many other homeworlds the Orions were forced to settle during their long nomadic history.
