Between 2264 and 2270, the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) was under the command of Captain James T. Kirk. During his tenure as captain, the Enterprise was a major component in many events of Alpha Quadrant history, as well as minor, run-of-the-mill missions. Below is a list of all adventures undertaken by the Enterprise during the fourth year of the historic five-year mission, during 2268-2269.

(The Enterprise Incident)

Stardate 5027.3
As the Enterprise was detained for trespassing in the Romulan Neutral Zone, ostensibly on Kirk's rogue orders, Spock charmed Liviana Charvanek while Kirk nabbed a new Romulan cloaking device. The Enterprise was able to escape from the ChR Memenda, unintentionally capturing Charvanek. (TOS episode & Star Trek 4 novelization: The Enterprise Incident)

46.3: After failing to capture a pirate ship on Tortuga VI, Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Scott went undercover as pirates to recover a stolen dilithium shipment on Taos IV. (TOS comic: "The Flight of the Buccaneer")
Stardate 5029.5
After being freed on Triacus, Gorgan killed the colony's adults. When the Enterprise arrived, he then manipulated the children to do his bidding. His plans to use the children to take over the ship and conquer Marcos XII were thwarted by Kirk. (TOS episode & Star Trek 12 novelization: And the Children Shall Lead)
Altman picked up a teddy bear-like Bandi-bear during a survey of Wokkle III, but it was highly empathic, projecting its emotions so strongly that they overwhelmed the crew. Kirk, Spock and McCoy had to think friendly thoughts until Spock could immobilize it with a Vulcan nerve pinch. (TOS - Star Trek: The Manga - Uchu comic: "Bandi")
The Enterprise detected Makon III's inaugural warp flight. Following custom, Kirk took a landing party in a shuttle to meet its crew. But of President Wan'Brek of a city state on Mako explained that it was not the place of the others to speak; engineers and scientists were second-class citizens. The ship's inventor Jeena meet with Kirk privately and was beamed up for a tour of the Enterprise, but the transport was witnessed and interpreted as theft of Wan'Brek's property. Following a tense confrontation, Spock suggested that inventing warp drive might not be enough proof that a civilization was worthy of joining the interstellar community. Stardate 5216.4
Following a devastating accident in engineering, the Enterprise was stranded without warp power. A shuttle was taken to nearby Kala, where Scott led a dilithium mining team. Spock contracted the Kalan plague and was treated with medicine made from suja moss. The miners located enough moss to cure the planet-wide epidemic. The Enterprise was assaulted by Haarkos mechanoids while escorting a freighter to Lowaria. Kirk gave rescued pilot Xill Kofza a tour of the starship, helping the young boy realize his responsibilities as their new team leader, and arranging for the abandoned mechanoid pilots to be adopted into Lowarian civilization. Kirk and Spock met with Klingon and Romulan representatives on Pomplance to settle a mining rights dispute for the WWB7 system, but negotiations halted after delegates were dosed with a truth serum by Coriolanus Quince. (TOS audiobook: In Vino Veritas)

While surveying the Moran sector, Enterprise encountered an entity composed of sound. Connors attempted to communicate with the sound entity by playing accompanying melodies with his elisiar, but he found it exhausting and couldn't keep up. Eventually the entity left the ship. The Federation Agricultural Division assigned the Enterprise to solve a crop crisis, in which gigantic herds of dranzers on Robol II regularly trampled most of the Ribol colony's crops. Spock devised a method of rerouting the 200-kilometer-wide stampede into a circle to the west of the colony. (TOS audiobook: The Logistics of Stampede)

The Enterprise made first contact as Marpaplu applied for Federation membership. Kirk concluded the treaty signing, but the planet was held in temporary quarantine while steps could be developed to keep flea-like meegees on the surface from spreading during contact. In the outer fringes of Federation territory, the Enterprise discovered two automated warships battling endlessly, their crews and civilizations long dead, and managed to divert their trajectory away from key population centers. (TOS audiobook: A Mirror for Futility)
While pursuing the pirate Auk Rex, Captain Kirk, Spock and Dr. McCoy follow him down to the planet Sanctuary in a shuttle. They soon discovered that they are trapped on the planet by a field that renders modern technology useless. (TOS novel: Sanctuary)

The Enterprise, orbiting the planet Gideon, beamed Kirk down for Federation membership treaty negotiations. Gideon consistently refused any surveillance by starship sensors. Spock found that the Gideons have transported Kirk onto a replica of the Enterprise to so confuse his mind as to make him susceptible to an extraordinary experiment. Stardate 5426.5
The Enterprise explored Tau Omega. While a landing party beamed to Tau Omega IV, the shuttlecraft Copernicus was disabled by a massive solar flare and crashed on Tau Omega III. Doctor James Brennan was killed by an omegasaurus and Carl Perez was lost, presumed dead. Two days later, the Enterprise rendezvoused with the USS Ranger. (TOS - FASA RPG short story: "Planetfall")
Stardate 7744.6
Investigating the disappearance of the Xanadu, the Enterprise encountered the IKS Obedience similarly searching for a lost vessel at Tareel III. Survivors from both ships were located on the surface, near an automated installation that used a powerful tractor beam to bring down intruding vessels. (TOS - FASA RPG short story: "Roleplaying in the Final Frontier")

The USS Enterprise underwent repairs and refitting at Starbase 12. (TOS novel: In Tempest's Wake)

While en route to the New Paris Colony, the Enterprise encountered three alien pods, which quickly disable the Enterprise. After restoring power, the crew discover that the pods contained energy beings that were being nurtured to be caretakers for the universe. Captain Kirk engages one of the beings in personal combat to ensure the survival of humanity. (TOS comic: "This Tree Bears Bitter Fruit")
This story was placed here due to references to the Zetarians from "The Lights of Zetar", and must take place shortly after that episode.
Stardate 6021.4, June 2269
The Enterprise was forced two travel deep into Romulan space to help Gary Seven track down two other agents working for the Aegis. They discover that the Romulans were planning to travel to 2293 and assassinate Spock at the Khitomer Conference. Together, the Enterprise crew and Seven prevent them from doing so. (TOS novel: Assignment: Eternity)
This story takes place a week after the episode "Turnabout Intruder".

The Enterprise intervened in a conflict between the Vestalan and the Hualans over a Federation starbase, and resolved the dispute. (TOS - The New Voyages 2 short story: "Snake Pit!")
Stardate 5361.7
TOS novel: The Face of the Unknown. Novel takes place very shortly after "As Others See Us" and leads directly into The Latter Fire, with the Enterprise rendezvousing with Arex Na Eth's ship at the end. Lt. M'Ress joins the crew at Starbase 8.
