Vulcanoid or Vulcanite was a term given to a humanoid species which showed physical traits or physiological similarities, to Vulcans. (TOS novelization: Balance of Terror; TLE novel: Catalyst of Sorrows)
The word was also sometimes used to refer specifically to the Vulcan species. (ST reference: The Worlds of the Federation)[1]
Vulcanoid races require a daily diet of Kelassium in order to avoid intestinal scarring. (TNG novel: Red Sector) In addition to this, TLTDH gas had a unique effect on them as it could produce laughter amongst them as well as feelings of exhilaration, euphoria and possibly unconsciousness amongst them. (TOS video game: 25th Anniversary)
Numerous species discovered in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants were categorized as Vulcanoid. The Mintakans, for instance, were considered proto-Vulcan humanoids. (TNG episode: "Who Watches the Watchers?")

Appendices
- ↑ The Worlds of the Federation states that, "The Vulcanoid species is the second most common in the known galaxy." However, it refers to them as a singular species and goes on to discuss the Vulcan people so it seems to be using the word to refer to Vulcan species rather than the related species collectively known as "Vulcanoid". The Star Trek Compendium, by Alan Asherman, reveals that Gene Roddenberry's first drafts for Spock's race included Martian and "Vulcanian".
