For other uses, see Watcher.

Watcher was a Vulcan title given to members of the Kolinahru order who were tasked with guarding the passageway that led to the entrance to the Hall of Ancient Thought on planet Vulcan.

The office of the Watcher dated from a less scrupulous era when the katras of the High Masters needed protection from those who craved power. (TOS novel: The Lost Years) Those that held the title were highly skilled adepts in the mind rules who were second only to the High Master. (TOS novelization: Star Trek V: The Final Frontier)

By the 23rd century, the position of Watcher remained and still guarded the entrance of the Hall at all times, although at this point the title had become an honorary one. (TOS novel: The Lost Years) Sybok fought the Watcher Storel in order to find the location of his mother T'Rea's vre'katra. (TOS novelization: Star Trek V: The Final Frontier)
