Weapon of mass destruction

A doomsday weapon or weapon of mass-destruction (WMD) is a type of weapon technology developed to deliver destruction on such a large scale that it could completely destroy an entire habitat and whole populations, effectively causing genocide. A doomsday launch can have drastic consequences as this use can be used as justification for a retaliatory attack with like weapons, causing mutual assured destruction between combatants.
