Gary Weinrib was a Human male serving in Starfleet in the late 24th century.

By 2381, Weinrib had attained the rank of lieutenant and served as a helmsman aboard the USS Enterprise-E. (ST - Destiny novel: Gods of Night)

During the Borg Invasion of 2381, he was a backup officer to Joanna Faur, and took over the helm controls after she was injured during an engagement with Hirogen vessels near the Carina Arm on the far end of a subspace tunnel emanating from the Azure Nebula. When the Hirogen boarded the Enterprise and headed for the Bridge, second officer Miranda Kadohata ordered Weinrib and the other junior officers into the observation lounge; when the boarders were repelled and he returned to his post, he maintained strict eye contact on the viewscreen so as not to see the carnage. (ST - Destiny novel: Mere Mortals)

After the Enterprise returned to the Azure Nebula with the USS Aventine, the latter vessel decided to head for Earth, hoping to do something against the invading Borg Collective. While the Enterprise gave chase, Captain Jean-Luc Picard asked Weinrib for an updated time to intercept; he reported that the Aventine was actually pulling away at point-eight-five past their top rated speed. Picard was able to communicate with Captain Ezri Dax and convince her to drop from warp; after recommending they speak to Starfleet for further orders, both ships dropped from warp, and Picard ordered Weinrib to match the Aventine's speed and heading. Later, the Enterprise, Aventine, and USS Titan put together a plan to lure the Borg back to the nebula using the Omega molecule generator in the Caeliar city-ship of Axion. Caeliar liaison Inyx suggested that for safety reasons, all Starfleet vessels should pull within one kilometer of Axion immediately, an action that Worf ordered Weinrib to comply with. (ST - Destiny novel: Lost Souls)

He was still serving as the Gamma-shift helmsman on the Enterprise-E in 2386 during their exploration of the Odyssean Pass. That year, he entered into a romantic relationship with the Enterprise's Chief Science Officer, Lieutenant Dina Elfiki. (TNG novel: Headlong Flight)
