History

In April of the year 2140, an agent of the Western Coalition's intelligence service known by the alias Sanchez was present at Dresden University of Technology Professor Aaron Ikerson's proposal to create and deploy the artificial super intelligence known as Uraei. The Western Coalition considered the continued unification of Earth under a global government essential to humanity's future and its interests. (ST - Section 31 novel: Control)

The Coalition Prime Minister attended the dedication of the United Earth Starfleet's new headquarters building in San Francisco in October 2141. (ST - Section 31 novel: Control)

Though the Western Coalition as a whole supported planetary unification, the United States, one of its leading members, continued to hold out on signing the Traité d'Unification for many years. (ST - Section 31 novel: Control)

The exact nature of the Western Coalition went unestablished in Control. However, references to the European Union suggest it may have been a comparable continental union.
