A wheel was a round device capable of rotating on its axis, facilitating movement or transportation, or performing labor in machines.

By the 23rd century, humanoid Parracas on the planet Alpha 332 had invented the wheel. It was used to make rickshaws and other carts. (TOS comic: "The Gods Have Come!")

While on Neesan in 2266, James T. Kirk observed members of the Tol tribe using rolling logs to move a heavy object and reflected that one day they would invent the wheel by cutting cross-sections from the logs and putting a hole in the center. (TOS comic: "The Cosmic Cavemen")
