William Burrows was a 19th century Human man. He was an officer in the United States Navy and the commanding officer of the USS Enterprise (schooner).
Biography[]
In 1813, Lieutenant Burrows was recorded as having said, "The colors must never be struck", meaning that surrender was an option only after every other alternative had been considered.
Legacy[]
In the year 2267, Spock quoted Burrows's statement to James T. Kirk during a dire situation. (TOS novel: The Abode of Life)
