Doctor William Masters was a 23rd century Human man, a Starfleet officer who served as the chief physician on Sheridan's World.
Biography[]
Masters was born in the mid-2230s. He was awarded a doctorate in medicine as a surgeon and an authority on Human general medicine, particularly in pathology and life support systems technology. He took intensive studies in Klingon medicine, Human psychology, Federation history, personal combat, and marksmanship. He was also qualified in exobiology, administration, and Klingon psychology. He was described as portly and congenial, but could become short-tempered.
In the early 2260s, Masters served in Starfleet as a commander with the Federation team that first surveyed Sheridan's World, reporting to Captain Sean Sheridan. He thought the planet was beautiful and volunteered to be assigned there. (FASA RPG module: Conflict of Interests)
In the year 2268, on reference stardate 2/09, he was one of 200 who settled in the city of Continuity on the Human/Klingon colony of Sheridan's World. (FASA RPG modules: Conflict of Interests, Star Trek IV Sourcebook Update)
A year later, he helped deliver the colony's first child, Ksanna MacDonald. Masters led the colony's medical staff. Among Human colonists, he had the highest psi quotient and was among the most intelligent.
In 2283, when he was 49 years old, each citizen's vote was taken to decide the colony's future. Masters supported the continued neutrality of Sheridan's World, although if forced to choose an alliance he was slightly more likely to desire the colony go under Federation control rather than join the Klingon Empire. He liked the world so much that he hoped Starfleet would allow him to stay even if it became a Klingon holding. (FASA RPG module: Conflict of Interests)
- Based on his name, he may be related to colonist David Masters.
