William R. Forstchen (born 1950) is a college professor and author of more than forty books. He has written science fiction, post-apocalyptic, gaming, historical fiction and non-fiction. Besides Star Trek he has also written for the Wing Commander and Magic: The Gathering universes. He teaches at Monteat College in North Carolina.
