Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

As part Benjamin Sisko's vision from the Prophets and the Pah-wraiths, Willie Hawkins was a baseball player for the team, New York Giants, in 1953. As the only Negro on the team, Hawkins was much admired by the largely black population of Harlem, but in white people's eyes he was "just another colored man that can hit a curve ball.".

Hawkins had once pursued Benny Russell's fiancée, Cassie Johnson, and still often tried to hit on her half-jokingly. (DS9 episode & novelization: Far Beyond the Stars)

Hawkins was also skilled at basketball, boxing, and American football. (DS9 novelization: Far Beyond the Stars)
