A witch was a title assumed by, or given to, a person capable of feats of magic, whether real or created through trickery or advanced technology. In Human mythology, a witch was usually female. (TAS episode: "The Magicks of Megas-Tu")

During the late 17th century in the settlement of Salem on Earth, some Megans—who were living as humans—were accused of being witches and given the death penalty during the Salem witch trials. (TAS episode: "The Magicks of Megas-Tu")

In the mirror universe, Captain Sylvia Tilly was also known as "the Witch of Wurna Minor" in 2256. (DSC episode: "Despite Yourself")

On the planet Pyris VII in the year 2267, three illusory witches appeared before a landing party from the USS Enterprise as part of a study conducted by Korob and Sylvia. (TOS episode & Star Trek 8 novelization: Catspaw)

In the 2550s decade, the Nachthexen-class starship was a type of battlecruiser in Starfleet service. In 2554, the USS Defiant-C was a Nachthexen-class ship. The name meant "night witches" in the German language. (STO - Agents of Yesterday short story: "No Profit But The Name")
