The World Trade Center attack
The World Trade Center was a multi-building complex located in New York City on Earth. The World Trade Center was originally built in the 20th century. It consisted of two tall towers (often referred to as the "Twin Towers"), which were the tallest buildings in New York City, and were amongst the tallest buildings on Earth at the time of their construction. There were also several other smaller buildings on the complex.

On September 11, 2001, the two main buildings were destroyed when two hijacked airliners rammed both towers in a highly coordinated terrorist attack. An image of this horrific event was visible in the panorama of images presented to Jonathan Archer when Daniels informed him that time had been set back on course. (ENT episode: "Storm Front, Part II")
Aegis agent Gary Seven knew of the impending attack, but was not allowed to interfere despite his wishes to do so. Instead, he was ordered to simply save one victim, Shaun Geoffrey Christopher, due to his future significance as part of the UNSS Lewis and Clark crew. (TOS short story: "Assignment: One")
Over 3,000 lives were lost in the attack, including many of the emergency and law enforcement personnel who initially responded when the first tower was attacked. One of the rescue workers who responded had a firefighter's axe which would eventually become a cherished family heirloom. In 2154, Captain Jonathan Archer and Daniels saw an image of the World Trade Center attacks in the time stream as the timeline reset itself. (ENT episode: "Storm Front")

- The towers have an apparent green and gold hue, but this was a result of the color scheme used in the comic.
