"There is no more despised people in the galaxy than the xBs. People either see us as property to be exploited, or as a hazard to be warehoused. Our hosts, the Romulans, have a far more expansive vision. They see us as both."
Hugh to Soji Asha, 2399[src]

The xB, short for ex-Borg, is the term for the group of individuals liberated from the Collective. They were considered the "most hated people in the galaxy," and were often hunted by criminals like Bjayzl who wanted to profit from their implants. (PIC episodes: "Stardust City Rag", "The Impossible Box")

In 2386, Icheb, by then a Starfleet lieutenant, had his Borg implants surgically removed while conscious. Seven of Nine, a fellow xB, arrived too late to save him, and euthanized him at his request. (PIC episode: "Stardust City Rag")

In 2399, a group of xBs and Romulans were part of the Borg Reclamation Project on the Borg cube dubbed "the artifact". (PIC episode: "The End is the Beginning")
