The XK Needle was a 23rd century Federation spacecraft, an experimental speedcraft in the service of the Special Security Division in the 2260s decade.
Service history and disposition[]
The XK Needle had a long, thin hull and compact size, designed to fit in a starship shuttlebay. The XK Needle was operation by Colonel Elizabeth Schaeffer in the year 2269. During the Detente Station 1 mission, Col. Schaeffer wore a concontrol bracelet, which gave her the ability to activate the craft's self-destruct mechanism and destroy the Enterprise if there was a security breach. (TOS novel: Death's Angel)
