Yale University was an institution of higher learning founded in 1701 in New Haven, Connecticut on Earth.

History and specifics[]

In the 19th century, Noah Porter served as president of Yale's undergraduate college, Yale College. (ST - Mirror Universe novel: The Sorrows of Empire)

Dr. Christopher Danton of Project Hercules graduated from Yale in 1948, having studied particle physics and applied thermonuclear energy. Dr. Angela Franklin, also of Project Hercules, graduated from Yale in 1952, having studied physics, experimental chemistry, biology, electrical engineering, and romance languages. (TOS - Star Trek: Assignment: Earth comic: "Brighter Than a Thousand Suns")

It is unclear which of these subjects Franklin studied at Yale and which she had studied previously while at Princeton University.

In the 20th century, Yale hosted a production of an Anton Chekhov play. While rushing to get to the play, one of the performers was killed in a traffic accident. According to legend, she became the Yale ghost. In the 24th century, Soleta visited Yale's theater building and saw the apparition. (NF novel: The Quiet Place)

In the 2290s, Yale was also noted as the home of the a cappela group The Whiffenpoofs. (ST short story: "Shakedown")

Alternate realities[]

In the mirror universe in 2273, Cadet Saavik recognized a quote in the Starfleet Academy handbook Star Points as belonging to Yale's President Porter. (ST - Mirror Universe novel: The Sorrows of Empire)

Actor Robert Picardo graduated from Yale.
