The Yorktown class was a 25th century Federation starship class, a legendary[1] command dreadnought cruiser and variant subclass of the 24th century[2] Odyssey-class star cruiser, in Starfleet service from the 2410s decade. The class became reality with the reconstruction of the wrecked Odyssey-class USS Yorktown (NCC-97005) into the class prototype USS Yorktown (NCC-98300) the year 2410. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", STO reference: Jayce's Interstellar)

Service history and specifications[]

USS Yorktown destroyed

The wreck of the original Yorktown.

In the 2400s decade, the USS Yorktown (NCC-97005) was an Odyssey-class star cruiser. The ship participated in the Second Battle of Earth in the year 2410. The Yorktown was destroyed and its sister ship USS Enterprise heavily damaged in the battle. (STO - The Iconian War mission: "Midnight", STO reference: Jayce's Interstellar)

The Starfleet Corps of Engineers recovered the wrecks. The Yorktown was rebuilt into a science-oriented star cruiser and recommissioned as the USS Yorktown (NCC-98300). (STO reference: Jayce's Interstellar)

It became the prototype of the Yorktown-class science star cruiser. In cooperation with the Klingon Defense Force and the Romulan Republic Navy, the three science-oriented dreadnought classes Yorktown, Gorkon-class battlecruiser, and Flambard-class dreadnought warbird were equipped with the dampening wave emitter. When activated, this equipment emitted a violent dampening wave that damaged nearby hostile vessels and gave off radiation. This emitter could be retrofitted onto any other flagship dreadnought class. (STO - Agents of Yesterday missions: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", "The Hunt is On", "Explore the Flotilla")

The Enterprise-F in battle.

The Federation's flagship, the Enterprise-F, was repaired and also refitted into a Yorktown-class star cruiser. Two additional classes were derived from the Odyssey, the Endeavour- and Sojourner-class star cruisers. (STO - Agents of Yesterday mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Enterprise-F refit

Odyssey class and Yorktown refit.

All Odyssey-based star cruiser subclasses were modular and their components interchangeable between them, including the Yorktown class.

In Starfleet Shipyards Operations shipyard interfaces, the rebuilt USS Yorktown visually represented its class from the year 2410 onward. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Following the Battle of Excalbia on stardate 84999.22[3] in early 2411, which saw the prominent involvement of hero ships from the Federation's past and present, the Yorktown was among the command dreadnought cruisers that received a refit to legendary starship qualifications. (STO - Legacy missions: "Measure of Morality (Part 2)", "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", STO website: Legacy} : Legendary Command Dreadnought Cruiser)

Livery[]

In the 25th century, the design of the Yorktown-class legendary command dreadnought cruiser allowed its commanding officer to choose from different designs of hull materials, which could be modified further at shipyards. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Furthermore, the installation of deflector shields from specific factions modified the hull appearance, including shields from the Reman Resistance, the Breen Confederacy and the Dominion. (STO missions: "Coliseum", "Cold Storage", "Boldly They Rode")
