The Yumiri were a warp-capable species that originated somewhere in the Milky Way Galaxy.

History[]

In 2376, a Yumiri vessel was caught in an Iconian gateway and became stranded with several other vessels in the Delta Quadrant. Lost and bereft of any way to return home, they accepted Captain Kathryn Janeway's offer of Voyager's protection and guidance, joining the multi-species caravan fleet through No Man's Land.

Upon approaching a nebula, the Yumiri insisted that they conduct an elaborate ritual honoring every crewman's ancestor to the tenth degree. The Yumiri ship was one of many vessels that attempted to enter the nebula simultaneously as many others. They accidentally crashed into the Umul, bringing the ire of Ellia who demanded to Janeway they be reprimanded. (VOY - Gateways novel: No Man's Land)
