Yurium listed on planet scan.

Yurium (YU2) is a material, a chemical compound.

History and specifics[edit | edit source]

This compound typically stored energy and could be used as an explosive. Trapped in a space anomaly, a freighter captain, one Bela Tyken, used anicium and yurium from his cargo bays to create a massive explosion. (TNG episode: "Night Terrors")

Jakmanite 632, a radioisotope, could be created artificially from the decay of high-energy yurium. (TNG episode: "Hollow Pursuits")

In the year 2365, a sensor scan by the Federation starship USS Enterprise-D registered yurium comprising 2% of the atmosphere of the planet Theta VIII. (TNG episode: "The Royale")

Appendices[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

The display in "The Royale" did not make it clear if "Yu2" could be the abbreviation of a diatomic molecule of an element named yurium, or if it was "YU2", which would be yttrium with two molecules of uranium. The properties of yurium and keimium in the atmosphere of Theta VIII might have to do with the Kei/Yuri factor, mentioned in the same scan.
